Section 2: Admissions

2.4 Interior Design
Bachelor of Interior Design: A four-year FIDER (Foundation for Interior Design Education Research) accredited program following completion of a qualifying year of 30 credit hours of university work in specific areas (see Admission Bulletin), with a grade of not less than "C" in each course (for the 1999-2000 academic session a passing grade is acceptable). All applicants must complete 30 credit hours of Arts and Science courses before graduation. Applicants should contact the general office for a copy of the admission policies.

The Interior Design program is currently under review and course changes are anticipated. Initially the Department of Interior Design will continue to deliver a Bachelor of Interior Design degree program along with a post professional research Master of Interior Design degree. The intention for the future is that interior design dissolve the BID program and offer its professional degree in the same format as the other professional graduate programs in the departments of architecture, city planning and landscape architecture. In addition to the first professional Master of Interior Design degree as described above, there will continue to be a post professional research Master of Interior Design degree.

Accordingly, the Interior Design professional program will have a third year option in Environmental Design and two years of professional studies leading to the Master of Interior Design degree.
