- Search Options
You can choose how you'd like to search by using the Calendar search menu.
Dramatically improve your search results by taking advantage of the options it
offers.
Any of these words
By default, the Calendar displays courses containing all the words in your
search query. By changing the search menu to "Any of these words" you will
find courses that contain as few as one of your requested words. For example,
if you search for physical geography the list of results will contain courses
with physical and with geography but not necessarily courses containing both
words. This option increases the number of courses that are returned.
Exact phrase
You can limit your search by requesting that your search terms appear in order
as an exact phrase. Select "Exact phrase" from the search menu. For example,
if you are looking for a course called Introduction to Physical Geography,
search for the title as a phrase and the Calendar will produce only this
specific course.
Boolean
The last option in the Calendar search menu is "Boolean." Using Boolean, you
can include the logical operators AND, OR, NOT, and parentheses to create your
own advanced search queries.
For example the search (roman AND history) NOT theatre looks for courses that
contain both the word "roman" and the word "history." However, courses that
match these terms but contain the word "theatre" are excluded from the results.
