Section 5: Program Requirements

5.2 Faculty Program Requirements
The following are the guidelines for the program requirements in the faculty. The courses outlined for each program in the sections which follow, meets these basic requirements.

Admitted between 1994 and 2001, Inclusive:
Students admitted between 1994 and 2001, inclusive, must follow these guidelines:

  • A faculty core of 12 credit hours consisting of:

028.205 Introduction to Research in Human Ecology 3
028.310 Communication for Professional Practice 3
028.408 Current Issues in Human Ecology 3

  • Plus a minimum of 48 credit hours within the faculty of which at least nine must be outside the major department;
  • Plus a minimum of 30 credit hours outside the faculty of which at least six credit hours must be from the Faculty of Science and six from the social sciences;
  • Plus a minimum of 12 credit hours of free electives leading to a degree requirement of 120 credit hours.
Admitted in September 2002 or Later:
  • A faculty core of 12 credit hours consisting of:

  • Plus aminimum of 48 credit hours within the faculty;
  • Plus a minimum of 30 additional credit hours outside the faculty of which at least 6 credit hours must be from the Faculty of Science and six from the social sciences;
  • Plus a minimum of 12 additional credit hours of free electives leading to a degree requirement of 120 credit hours.
