To prepare nurses for practice in remote, northern, and First Nations settings, the Faculty of Nursing, the J.A. Hildes Northern Medical Unit, Community Health Sciences - Faculty of Medicine, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc., and Health Canada have developed a set of courses. The primary care skills courses are available only to nurses recommended by First Nations employers and First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Health Canada.
