Faculty of Nursing
Section 7: Primary Care Skills
To prepare nurses for practice in
remote, northern, and First Nations settings, the Faculty of Nursing,
the J.A. Hildes Northern Medical Unit, Community Health Sciences -
Faculty of Medicine, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc., and Health
Canada have developed a set of courses. The primary care skills courses
are available only to nurses recommended by First Nations employers
and First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Health Canada. These
courses address the scope of practice required for nurses employed
in nursing station settings in the provision of advanced nursing care.
