Eligibility |
An endowment fund has been established to support graduate studies and research into the processes of peace building. This award recognizes Janice Filmon (B.Sc.H.Ec./63) and her tireless work with community organizations and committees at the local, national and international levels including serving on the boards of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and the Arthur V. Mauro Centre for Peace and Justice. The award will be offered to a student who:
- is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a Master's or Ph.D. program at the University of Manitoba
- has completed the necessary course work towards the degree and has obtained approval for a thesis or dissertation proposal prior to undertaking the research funded by this award
- is pursuing research into the processes of peace building

- a letter of support from their thesis/dissertation supervisor(s), department head, or departmental supervisor of graduate studies indicating the thesis or dissertation proposal has been approved;
- a copy of their thesis or dissertation proposal;
- a description of the intended use of the award (maximum 500-750 words), which may include travel.
- a copy of their undergraduate transcripts; graduate transcripts (where available)
Final selection will be at the discretion of the selection committee and will be based on the relative strengths of the full application package.
