Eligibility The Buggey family has established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba to offer the Leslie F. Buggey Graduate Scholarship in Pharmacy. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to this fund. The purpose of the fund is to support graduat students conducting a research project exclusively in the Faculty of Pharmacy. Each year, the available annual income from the fund will be used to offer one scholarship with a maximum value of $10,000 to a graduate student who:

  • is enrolled as a full-time Master's or Ph.D. student in any year of study in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and whose research project is conducted exclusively in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba;
  • has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5 in the last two years of their previous program of study.


Preference will be given to candidates in the following decending order:
  • (1) Pharmacy graduates - B.Sc. (Pharm.) or M.Sc. from the University of Manitoba;
  • (2) other graduates from the University of Manitoba;
  • (3) graduates from other universities

The scholarship is not tenable with other major awards of $15,000 or more.

The scholarship will not be given to the same candidate more than once unless the donor provides consent.

The Faculty of Pharmacy will offer a commemorative medallion, which will be presented to the recipient at the annual Faculty of Pharmacy Graduate ceremony.

In any year in which there is no eligible candidate the value of the scholarship will be re-capitalized.
