Eligibility From the bequest of Dorothy Anna Naylor, funds have been placed in the keeping of the Winnipeg Foundation. Mrs. Naylor was the wife of Dr. Bernard Naylor and the daughter of Senator Crerar, P.C., LL.D. This fund will be used to offer the Senator Thomas Alexander Crerar Scholarships to students pursuing graduate studies in the subject area of Humanities at the University of Manitoba. The Winnipeg Foundation will confirm the value of these awards annually. In each year when the award is offered, two scholarships of equal value will be offered to graduate students who:

(1) are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in the first year of any Master of Arts or Doctoral program in the subject area of Humanities offered at the University of Manitoba;

(2) have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours of study (or equivalent);

(3) have successfully completed their undergraduate degree from any program offered by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba within the past 12 months at the time they take up the award;

(4) has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and the ability to succeed in their desired field of graduate study.

In the event that candidates are of approximately equal merit, preference in selection will be given to students pursuing graduate studies in the areas of Canadian History, Philosophy, English Literature, or French Literature.

**NOTE: For the 2023-2024 competition, the above noted requirements have to be met as of the Fall 2023 term - students must be registered in Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms in order to be considered eligible for this scholarship.**

In order to be considered for this composite award, the application must include:

1. A current curriculum vitae

2. A statement (max. 2 pages) describing academic achievements, involvement in extra-curricular activities, and desired career path following graduation

3. Two (2) academic letters of reference - both from professors under whom courses have been taken and are familiar with your academic performance. These two letters should assess the applicant's ability to succeed in a graduate program

4. A current academic transcript. This will not need to be uploaded as part of the application, but will be used as part of the evaluation of candidates
