A fund has been established at the University of Manitoba by the Brain Injury Services of Northern Ontario in memory of Michele Fisher, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba. Michele majored in sociology and minored in psychology, and later worked with individuals living with the effects of Acquired Brain Injury. Michele died in November of 1996 in a motor vehicle accident. This award recognizes excellence in academic achievement in the field of neuropsychology.
To be considered for this award, a student must:
be a full-time graduate student in Clinical Psychology;
have completed the course 017.823, Clinical Neuropsychology (currently offered every second year);
have achieved the highest standing in that course; and
have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
All other factors being equal, preference may be given to students preparing to work in the field of neuropsychology as it relates to services in the Acquired Brain Injury field. Preference may also be given to students from northwestern Ontario and Manitoba.
During the year that 17.823 Clinical Neuropsychology is not offered or there is no eligible candidate, the interest generated by this fund shall be used to purchase books and testing materials for the Psychology Services Centre Library. Book plates commemorating Michele Fisher shall be placed in the books or on the test material cases. |
