Eligibility The following are scholarships offered by the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS). The Kenneth E. Grant Research Scholarship provides research funds for an interdisciplinary investigation that examines methods of conserving or improving land management and water quality. Research proposals should show the use of an investigative methodology that demonstrates an understanding of the relationships between various disciplines and suggest an approach integrating this knowledge into action. An applicant for the research scholarship must * be a member of SWCS * have demonstrated integrity, ability, and competence to complete the specified study topic * be eligible for graduate work at an accredited institution, and * show reasonable need for financial asistance. Value: $1,000 The Melville H. Cohee Student Leader Conservation Scholarship provides financial assistance to members of SWCS who are in their junior or senior year of full-time undergraduate study or are pursuing graduate level studies with a natural resource conservation orientation at a properly accredited college or university. An applicant must * be a member fo SWCS for a least 1 year * not a family member of the Professional Development Committee * in junior or senior year of full-time undergraduate study in fall of 2011 or pursuing graduate level studies in a natural resource field.
