The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IIAC) has two components to the Internships Program. Internships are only available to citizens of Canada and IICA Member countries in Lation America and the Caribbean (LAC) to allow:
- Researchers and academics from the public and private sectors working on projects in agricultural sciences and veterinary medicine to carry out part of their studies or research projects in LAC countries and Canada. This component is open to Canadian and LAC agriculture researchers, academics and graduate students (PhD and Masters) working on research projects in agriculture sciences, veterinary medicine and related areas.
- Farmers and leaders in farming and agribusiness to develop cooperative and/or work relationship with their couterparts from LAC and Canada. This component is open to Canadian and LAC producers, leaders, and representatives of produce organizations and the agribusiness sector interested in developing a cooperative and/or work relationship with counterparts in LAC and Canada.
Projects must relate directly to one or more of IICS-Canada's strategic action areas for 2009:
- Agricultural Health and Food Safety
- Technology and Innovation
- Trade and Agribusiness Development
- Sustainable Rural Development
- Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and the Environment

will cover airfare (one round trip), local ground transportation, and a maintenance
allowance. |
