Eligibility A fund has been established from the bequest of Adalsteinn Kristjansson in memory of Holmfridur (Frida) Josefsdottir Kristjansson to provide encouragement and recognition to a graduate student with outstanding potential in nutrition research. Frida emigrated to Winnipeg from Iceland in 1910 and married Fridrik Kristjansson in 1914. She was an excellent homemaker skilled in the areas of cooking, sewing and handiwork as well as bookkeeping and other areas of business. Her interests included music, ballet, theatre, history and current affairs. She was an avid supporter of the UNICEF Children’s Fund, believing there was no greater gift than to a child in need.
One award shall be offered each year to a graduate student in the M.Sc. programme in Nutrition or the individual Interdisciplinary Program (Department of Human Nutritional Sciences, Faculty of Human Ecology), or in the interdepartmental Ph.D. programme in Human Nutritional Sciences. Preference will be given to a student in the first year of the programme who does not hold a major award. Selection is to be based on academic achievement (minimum GPA 3.5) and personal and professional qualities.
