Eligibility The purpose in donating this prize is to stimulate interest and research in this important field. It is hoped that the prize will not be regarded as a goal in itself, but rather as a stimulus to improvement in Maternal and Neo-Natal Welfare and that publication of the winning essay in a suitable Canadian Medical Journal will prove of value to and be an incentive to the Medical Profession. The prize shall be offered for an essay or report on original work of investigation on Maternal and Neo-Natal Welfare open only to graduates in Medicine of The University of Manitoba and only up to the end of the fifth year following graduation. The prize, consisting of the accumulated funds from two years' income from the bequest, shall be available every alternate year. In the event of the essay or essays submitted in any one year being judged by the committee to be of insufficient merit to warrant publication, the prize in that year shall be withheld and the unexpended money added to the capital sum.
