Eligibility Manitoba Hydro offers The University of Manitoba an entrance graduate fellowship in natural resources management. The objective of the fellowship is to make the field of natural resources an attractive option to top students graduating in natural and social sciences. The fellowship is to be awarded each year to the student who:
  • enters a full-time program of studies in the Natural Resources Institute at The University of Manitoba in the area of Canadian natural resources and environmental management;
  • has achieved an excellent academic record with a minimum grade point average of 3.75 in the last 60 credit-hours of post-secondary course work; and,
  • is a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Preference will be given to candidates who are highly ranked according to the criteria used by the Admissions Committee of the Natural Resources Institute. These criteria include academic excellence, letters of recommendation, relevant background and experience in the field of natural resources, and the overall potential of the candidate for contribution to the sustainable use of resources in Manitoba and Canada.
    Preference will be given to Masters level students. If suitable Masters students cannot be identified, the Committee will then consider Ph.D. students. No award will be made if, in given year, the selection committee cannot identify a candidate of sufficient merit. In exceptional circumstances, the fellowship may be split among two equally qualified students.
