Eligibility To be eligible for any of these scholarships and awards, the applicant/nominee must be a member of the CWSS-SCM unless otherwise stated. Monsanto Canada Scholarships in Weed Science Two scholarships will be awarded each year, one to a MSc candidate and one to a PhD candidate. The winners will receive a $2,000 scholarship plus travel and hotel expenses, registration fee, and other reasonable expenses for attending the CWSS-SCM annual meeting. Dow AgroSciences Travel Awards Two awards will be presented each year, one to a MSc candidate and one to a PhD candidate. Each award consists of up to $1,000 to enable deserving graduate students to attned the CWSS-SCM annual meeting. Eligible expenses include registration fees, meals, accomodations and transportation. Syngenta Travel Awards Two awards will be presented each year, one to a MSc candidate and one to a PhD candidate. Each award consists of up to $1,000 to enable deserving graduate students to attend the CWSS-SCM annual meeting. Eligible expenses include registration fees, meals accomodations and transportation. Winners of these awards will be required to give a 15 minute presentation on their research project during the Graduate Student Presentations session at the CWSS-SCM annual meeting.
Objectives:
  • To recognize academic and research excellence amongst weed science graduate students in Canada
  • To raise the profile of the CWSS-SCM at Canadian universities
  • To enhance the annual conference by encouraging graduate student participation
  • To encourage graduate student membership in the CWSS-SCM
    Eligibility: Any graduate student member of CWSS-SCM who has completed at least 12 months of graduate studies toward a MSc or PhD in weed science. The thesis project must be on weed management, biocontrol, herbicide chemistry, physiology, efficacy or environmental fate, application technology, weed biology or weed ecology
