Eligibility |
A scholarship has been established by friends and family through The Winnipeg Foundation in memory of Duncan Norrie (B.Sc.(C.E.)/82), a University of Manitoba Civil Engineering graduate who died in a plane crash in Nepal. An annual, non-renewable award is offered to support a promising student who is planning to pursue graduate studies or is currently enrolled in the first year of their graduate program in the field of water resources engineering, preferably, but not necessarily, at The University of Manitoba.
Preference will be given to applicants in the final year of the undergraduate Civil Engineering program at The University of Manitoba. Graduate applicants who have completed their Civil Engineering undergraduate program at another institution may be considered with preference to University of Manitoba graduates. The student must have an outstanding grade point average (minimum 3.5 or equivalent), plus a strong academic performance in undergraduate courses related to water resources engineering. Preference will be given to candidates who have an identified interest in international development work. If there is no suitable applicant, in a given year, the scholarship will not be awarded. |
