Eligibility In appreciation of the contribution of the Hon. Duff Roblin to the province and people of Manitoba, friends and colleagues of Mr. Roblin have graciously contributed funds to establish a graduate fellowship at the University of Manitoba in the area of Canadian and Manitoba government and politics. The income from this fund will be used to offer three fellowships, valued at $15,000 each to students who:
  • are enrolled as full-time graduate students in the Department of Political Studies in a thesis programme, with a primary research focus on Canadian government and politics (e.g., federalism, parliament, provincial issues, political parties, interest groups, public administration and policy studies, comparative politics with a focus on Canada, Canada on the international stage, etc.);
  • are in the first or second year of graduate study (cannot be in third year or higher);
  • have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.

  • The duration of this Fellowship is one academic year. However, upon satisfactory performance in the year of receipt of this Fellowship, the Duff Roblin Fellow qualifies for a renewal of the award. Normally, the Fellowship may not be renewed beyond the second year of graduate studies. In the case that a recipient’s award is renewed, another first-time recipient may be selected in that year. This Fellowship may not be renewed more than once for the same recipient. The recipient of this award will normally be supervised by the Duff Roblin Professor.
