Eligibility	In memory of Gwen Rue, a fund has been established at The University of Manitoba by her family and friends to support an annual award to a graduate student in the Department of Plant Science. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to this fund. The award will consist of a book prize of $500 (provided as a credit at The University of Manitoba Book Store or a gift certificate to purchase a journal subscription or computer software, with the balance put toward a Bookstore gift certificate). An inscription designating this award in the name of Gwen Rue will be included in the book(s) selected by the recipient. Additionally, the name of the award recipient will be added to a plaque to be permanently displayed in the Department of Plant Science. This award will be offered annually to a deserving student enrolled in an M.Sc. or Ph.D. program in the Department of Plant Science at The University of Manitoba. Nominees for the award must have made notable contributions to the Department of Plant Science, particularly in areas directly benefiting graduate students. This may include involvement in the Graduate Student Association (GSA); participating on Department, Faculty or University committees; providing encouragement or advice to other students; serving as a spokesperson for graduate students; organizing special events; or taking part in any other activity that serves the interests of graduate students and/or the Department of Plant Science.
