2011 TAC Student Paper Awards has established awards to recognize contributions by students to the technical content of its annual conference. The awards are open to all students submitting papers that are accepted for presentation at the annual conference. The establishment of this award is intended to encourage student participation in the conference and in the activities of the association. Eligibility: All student papers accepted for the TAC Annual Conference through the standard submission and review process, as outlined in TAC's call for papers, are eligible for the Student Paper Awards. To be considered a student paper, the principal author of a paper must be registered full-time at a recognized academic institution. The paper will be reviewed taking into consideration: * the general quality of the paper * the research methodology described * observations and conclusions, and * contributions made by the paper to the subject metter. Value: 1st prize $500 2nd prize $300 3rd prize $200. The awards will be presented during the Awards Luncheon at the TAC Annual Conference. TAC Scholarship Program builds upon the former TAC scholarship program, by offering additional postgraduate scholarships, as well as several new scholarships that are available to undergraduates and college level students. The Program supports the educational needs of the Canadian transportation industry, by providing financial assistance to promising undergraduate, postgraduate and college level students, and professionals returning to school, for studies in transportation related disciplines. General criteria for Foundation Scholarships: * candidates must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants * preference may be given to candidates with relevant work experience * scholarships may be awarded to individuals receiving other scholarships * the maximum number of Foundation scholarships which will be awarded to any individual is two (2) * scholarships are for full year attendance inpost secondary institutions only (applicants must be enrolled for the entire academic year, not just one term) * college level stuents are now eligible to apply. Criteria for Postgraduate Scholarships: * candidates must be admissible to a postgraduate studies program or already registered as full-time graduate students * candidates must be studying in the field of transportaton and meet the conditions which apply to a particular scholarship * candidates must be in the top quarter of their class in addition to having a minimum GPA of B * on completion of postgraduate studies, scholarship recipients must send a copy of their thesis to the Foundation Visit http://www.tac-atc.ca/english/foundation/scholarships/descriptions.cfm for complete guidelines. |
