Eligibility	Dr. Herbert Weil of the Department of English has established a fund at the University of Manitoba to support a fellowship in that department. This gift will be matched with funds provided by the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship Matching Funds Program. The fellowship is to be offered each year to a Ph.D. student in English who: shows great promise for teaching as well as for research; demonstrates ability in at least two distinct areas of literature in English and; whose scholarship shows commitment to flexibility and openness. Selection for this fellowship is to be based on all of the criteria outlined above and not primarily on the grade point averages achieved by the candidates.
