Ted and Deanna Cohen have established a fund at The University of Manitoba to encourage graduates from its Faculty of Music to pursue further music studies in the field of Music Therapy (currently not offered at The University of Manitoba). The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to this fund. This scholarship will be offered to a student who:
graduates from the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at The University of Manitoba with a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5; and
enrolls in a graduate or undergraduate programme at a university other than The University of Manitoba in the field of Music Therapy.
The initial value of the scholarship will be $500, which will be made available to the recipient upon receipt of proof of registration in the Music Therapy programme at the chosen university. The scholarship is renewable for one year upon successful completion of a full first year of the Music Therapy programme and receipt of proof of enrollment in the second year of the Music Therapy programme.
If no eligible candidate is available in a given year, the scholarship will be offered to a student in the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at The University of Manitoba who:
is enrolled as a full-time student (at least 60 percent of a full course-load) in the final year of study in the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at The University of Manitoba;
has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5; and
indicates an intention to pursue further study in the field of Music Therapy.
In the event that a Music Therapy programme is established at The University of Manitoba, this scholarship will be offered solely to students who pursue study in this field at this University. The donors intend to review their financial commitment to this scholarship five years from its establishment. |
