Eligibility Through the generosity of Edward Benson Kernaghan, B.Sc. Electrical Engineering, there is offered annually a scholarship consisting of the annual income from the Kernaghan Trust fund. The scholarship is intended to assist and encourage Engineering graduates of the University of Manitoba to undertake postgraduate work in an approved school of Business Administration, or its equivalent, for the purpose of entering the fields of investment, or engineering management in basic Canadian industrial enterprises.

The candidate must be a graduate in Engineering from the University of Manitoba and must present evidence of acceptance by the institution which they proposes to attend. (Note: for the 2018-2019 award, eligible applicants must be entering their postgraduate studies in Business Administration in Fall 2018 term.)

The selection committee shall take into account the following:

1. the candidate's scholarship as shown by their undergraduate record and subsequent studies, if any;

2.the candidate's personality and general record;

3.the relation of the postgraduate course proposed by them to their undergraduate studies and to the career they plan to follow.

One award is available to a recipient who is a University of Manitoba Engineering graduate undertaking post-graduate work in an approved school of Business and Administration or its equivalent for the purpose of entering fields of investment or engineering management.

Application Details NOTE: There are 5 composite award competitions including this one and all have the same application requirements and deadline for the 18-19 competition - October 27th, 2018. If you intend to apply for multiple composite awards, only one application needs to be submitted. The application includes:

1. A copy of your current academic CV - please ensure it includes relevant work experience and academic experience, as well as any information on any other awards/funding that you currently hold and have previously held.

2. A statement (approx. 500 words) that speaks to your academic research interests and goals in your graduate program.

3. Two (2) academic letters of reference - ideally these letters should be submitted by professors who have recently supervised your research and are familiar with your academic performance.

The selection committee is to be named by the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
