Eligibility The Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, under the Directorship of Dr. N.S. Dhalla wishes to recognize the outstanding leadership and services of Professor P.K. Singal for developing a high profile graduate training program in cardiovascular sciences. To be eligible, students must:
  • be enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (Master’s or Ph.D. program) at the University of Manitoba in a program delivered by the Max Rady College of Medicine, and affiliated with the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre;
  • have completed at least one Regular Session (or two terms) in the chosen program to date (Fall 2024 & Winter 2025 or Winter 2025 & Summer 2025);
  • have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 (on all graduate courses completed to date).

The award may be held concurrently with any other awards, consistent with the policies of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Note: One student may not hold this award more than once.

Value $16200
Award value and number of awards for 2025-2026 to be determined by the selection committee. Scholarship may be divided into more than one award. Total value distributed for 2025-2026 aid year is $16,200.

Tenable at Must be an admitted UM student registered in the 2025-2026 academic year in a program delivered by the Max Rady College of Medicine. Must have completed one regular session or two terms at the UM. UM Graduate students must be registered in both Fall 2025 & Winter 2026 terms to be eligible for this award.

As part of the online application, you will be required to submit the following items via the online system:

  • two-page (maximum) description of research including career goals;

    Your Summary must be in plain language and should be readable by someone with a background in the discipline but with no specialized knowledge of the particular field of research. Maximum 2 pages, no format requirements.

    Letter can be addressed to: Pawan K. Singal Graduate Student Scholarship in Cardiovascular Sciences Award Selection Committee.

    Optional: You may append your Research Proposal (in addition to the required 2 page summary).

  • current curriculum vitae (CV);

  • two letters of reference;
    one from your thesis supervisor and the other from a professor at a post-secondary institution.
