Eligibility Delta Kappa Gamma is a professional honorary society of women educators. The Society promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education. Established in 1929, Delta Kappa Gamma has attained major objectives in improving opportunities for qualified women employed at every level of education as well as in advancing the status of women educators. To this purpose, the Purposes set forth by the Founders continue to embody the spirit of the Society. This is open to women students studying for post graduate degrees at the University of Manitoba who are not citizens or landed immigrants of the United States or Canada. The Purposes continue to be as valid in today's contemporary world as when first adopted:
1) To unite women educators of the world in genuine spiritual fellowship;
2) To honor women who have given or who demonstrate a potential for distinctive service in any field of education;
3) To advance the professional interest and position of women in education;
4) To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators;
5) to endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to women educators from other countries;
6) to stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action;
7) to inform the members of current economic, social, political, and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.
The International Society awards a number of scholarships to members who are enrolled in advanced study programs. The World Fellowship Fund provides opportunities for women educators to study in colleges and universities not located in their countries. Students from countries where Delta Kappa Gamma does not exist are eligible for consideration of this award.
