Eligibility	Dr. Lois M. Brockman established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba in 2006. The purpose of the fellowship is to encourage the development of professionals who are prepared and dedicated to fostering wholesome development of children through research. The fellowship provides financial assistance to graduate students for master's thesis or doctoral dissertation research that pertains to the development of the child (birth to 12 years). Each year, the available annual income from the fund will be used to offer one or more fellowships to graduate students who: 1) are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in any master's or doctoral program offered at the University of Manitoba; 2) have achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study; 3) have completed all the course requirements for their graduate degree and are currently pursuing their master's thesis or doctoral dissertation on a full-time basis; 4) are pursuing master's thesis or doctoral dissertation research that pertains to the development of the child (birth to 12 years). Theses or dissertations and publications that have been assisted by the Lois M. Brockman Graduate Student Research Fellowship in the Area of Child Development are expected to acknowledge the support received.

Application Details	The 2024-2025 Application Will Open in March 2025! In order to be considered for the scholarship, the application must include: 1. An official transcript (DOES NOT have to be sealed, can be certified/stamped) 2. A thesis or dissertation proposal (maximum 1200 words) 3. A budget of costs related to the research proposed 4. One letter of reference from student's supervisor The application for this award can be found online at, https://applygrad.umanitoba.ca/apply/?sr=46232078-6f87-469b-bf89-13c11be1be68 The selection committee will be named by the Vice-Provost (Graduate Education) and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and will include three faculty members: one child developmental professional from three different departments in which child development or developmental psychology is taught. The Vice-Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies (or designate) will serve as Chair. The selection committee will have discretion to determine the value of the award(s) offered to selected candidates based on the merit of the proposal and budget. Upon completion of the research, the recipient(s) will submit a summary of the research results with an accounting of expenditures to the Dean of Graduate Studies to be shared with the donor or the donor's specified fund contact.
