Eligibility This call offers Masters and PhD students, as well as Post-Docs, enrolled at a Canadian university a 4 month research-based internship, valued at $15,000. This program provides internship opportunities for graduate students pursuing collaborative research with an industrial partner.
The graduate intern, under the supervision of a faculty member, spends approximately half of his/her time over 4 months with a partner company, developing a better understanding of a jointly-identified research problem. The balance of the intern’s time is spent at the university with their professor, developing a solution to the company’s challenge.
Eligible industry partners must be for-profit companies with the ability to have the intern spend time on-site for a portion of the internship. The partner will contribute $7,500 in cash towards this award (payable to MITACS). The student must receive a minimum stipend of $10,000 with the balance of the award (up to $5,000) available to the supervisor to cover eligible research costs associated with the project.
