Eligibility The Costume Society of America advances the global understanding of all aspects of dress and appearance. We work to stimulate scholarship and encourage study in the rich and diverse field of costume. Adele Filene Student Travel Award value $500 Adele Filene Student Presenter Grants provide financial assistance to students who have been selected to present papers at the National Symposium. The Costume Society of America greatly values the contributions of student members and wishes to foster their development; these Grants are intended to encourage student participation in both the Symposium and within the Society. Application deadline: March 1 Stella Blum Student Research Grant value $2,000 The Stella Blum Student Research Grant is intended to assist the research of a current undergraduate or graduate student who is a member of the Costume Society of America and working in the field of North American costume. Application deadline: May 1. Millia Davenport Publication Award value $500, certificate and an invitation to speak at the annual Symposium of the Costume Society of America the following year. The purpose of the award is to recognize excellence in scholarship in the study of costume and to promote research and publication on costume. It is awarded to a published book or exhibition catalog that makes a significant contribution to the study of costume, reflects original thought and exceptional creativity, and draws on appropriate research methods and techniques. CSA Travel Research Grant Not offered in 2010-2011. The Travel Research Grant is intended to assist an Individual (non-student) Member of the Costume Society of America with travel to a library, archive, museum or other collection or site to further an on-going research project.
