Eligibility The Francois-Xavier Garneau Medal Awarded every five years, it is the most prestigious of the CHA prizes. It honours an outstanding Canadian contribution to historical research. The prize, in the amount of $2,000, will be awarded by the Canadian Historical Association in 2010 at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Historical Association at Concordia University, Montreal. 2010 Sir John A. Macdonald Prize Competition The Canadian Historical Association is pleased to announce its 31st Sir John A. Macdonald Prize competition. The prize, in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded by the Canadian Historical Association in 2010 at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Historical Association at Concordia University, Montreal, for the non-fiction work of Canadian history “judged to have made the most significant contribution to an understanding of the Canadian past”. 2010 Wallace K. Ferguson Prize Competition The prize, in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded to a Canadian citizen or Canadian landed immigrant who has published the outstanding scholarly book in a field of history OTHER THAN CANADIAN HISTORY during the past year. The award will be given in May 2010 at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Historical Association at Concordia University, Montreal. 2010 John Bullen Prize Competition The prize, in the amount of $500, will be awarded in 2010 for the outstanding historical dissertation written by a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant living in Canada accepted for a doctoral degree at a Canadian university between 1 October 2008 and 30 September 2009. The award will be given in May 2010 at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Historical Association at Concordia University, Montreal. 2010 Hilda Neatby Prize Competition The purpose of the Hilda Neatby Prize in Women's History, awarded annually since 1983 by the Canadian Committee on Women’s History at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Historical Association, is to encourage the publication of scholarly articles on women's history and gender history as it relates to women, in Canadian journals and books and, in the case of the French-language article, in international journals and books as well. Two prizes are awarded, one for the best article in English, the other for the best article in French. 2010 Clio Prizes Competition The Regional History Committee of the Canadian Historical Association wishes to announce that it is soliciting nominations for its Clio Prizes. These annual awards are given for meritorious publications, or for exceptional contributions by individuals or organizations to regional history. The CHA Journal Prize The CHA Journal is awarded every year for the best essay published each year in the Journal of the Canadian Historical Association. The adjudication committee consists of the editorial board and a representative from the CHA Council, assisted by comments received through the peer review process. The online edition of the Journal of the Canadian Historical Association Prize The Online Edition JCHA Prize is awarded for the best essay published each year in the online edition of the Journal of the Canadian Historical Association. 2010 Best article on the History of Sexuality Competition The Canadian Committee on the History of Sexuality, a subcommittee of the Canadian Historical Association, is pleased to announce a call for nominations for its Prize for Best Article on the History of Sexuality in Canada. The CCHS prize is designed to recognize excellence in and encourage the growth of scholarly work in the field of the history of sexuality in Canada. The winning article will be one that makes an original contribution to the study of the sexual past from any period in the history of what is now called Canada. 2010 Neil Sutherland Biennal Article Prize Competition This award honours the pioneering work of Canadian historian Neil Sutherland in the history of children and youth by recognizing outstanding contributions to the field. The prize is given out on a biennial basis under the auspices of the History of Children and Youth Group of the Canadian Historical Association. The Eugene Forsey Prize The Eugene Forsey Prize, awarded by the Canadian Committee on Labour History for the best undergraduate and graduate essays on Canadian labour history.
