The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) announces the following awards. The Viscount Bennett Fellowship is made possible by a donation from the Right Honorable Viscount Bennett, a CBA Past President. The fund is to provide income to be used to encourage a high standard of legal education, training and ethics. Eligibility:
Candidates must be Canadian citizens who have graduated from an approved law school in Canada, or, who at the time of application are pursing final year studies as undergraduate students at such approved law school
Candidates must file a completed official application form on or before the deadline
Applications must be accompanied by a $25 filing fee. The fee is waived for CBA members
The Award will be paid as a fellowship for post-graduate studies at a university approved by the Committee Value: funding an any academic year shall not exceed $65,000 of which $40,000 is Viscount Bennett. The National Military Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association has established the Sword & Scale Essay Competition to promote and reward interest in military law topics in Canadian law schools. The prize is presented annually for the best scholarly essay in military law or justics, public policy or public affairs related to Canadian military law. Authors must be full-time university students enrolled at a Canadian law school at either an undergraduate or graduate level.
