Canada-Brazil Awards - Joint Research Projects The objective of this scholarship program is to support team-oriented research projects between Canadian and Brazilian institutions of higher education in key areas of mutual cooperation, such as democratic governance, prosperity and security, as well as science and technology, thus encouraging research collaboration as well as graduate student mobility. This scholarship program supports exchanges of PhD students in the context of team-based bilateral research projects. The projects must consist of collaborative research and eventual publication in support of key academic areas of bilateral cooperation or the objectives of the Canada-Brazil Framework Agreement on Science and Technology Cooperation and fully explain the advantages of the partnership for both countries. Eligibility: * This Call is open to Canadian and Brazilian higher education institutions. The Canadian Institution must be a publicly funded post-secondary institution. The coordination of the project will be the responsibility of both the Canadian and Brazilian Project Leads. * The Canadian and Brazilian Project Leads must be active members, which include Professors Emeritus and academic staff on sabbatical leave, of a recognized higher education or equivalent degree granting institution. Retired faculty are not eligible. * Project Leads must hold a degree equivalent to a postgraduate qualification (Ph.D.) and must have held the title of doctor for at least four (4) years. They must have relevant research experience and/or proven technical-scientific capacity for the development of the project. * Project Leads must have a good working knowledge of English or French (written and oral). * Project Members must be PhD students, registered as full time students at their home institutions. Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships Program The program serves to enhance the skill sets required to advance the development and sustainability of CARICOM and seeks to strengthen insittutional linkages between Canadian universites and colleges and those in the region. The scholarships will focus on areas such as good governance, rule of law, democratic development, as well as develop skills required to enhance the regions' prosperity through the pure and applied sicences, economics and trade policy issues, teaching and other subjects specific to the needs of the regions. Eligibility: * Students must be citizens of the following countries: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Monserrat, Saint Kitt's, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos. Anyone who has obtained Canadian citizenship, who has applied or is planning to apply for permanent residency in Canada is not eligible for this scholarship * Candidates must be enrolled full-time at a foreign instituion in an eligible country and paying tuition fees at their home institution for the full duration of the exchange * Candidates already participating in an exchange program in Canada are not eligible * Candidaites already enrolled to a degree program at a Canadian university of college are not eligible * Candidates should be proficient in either English or French. Graduate students must arrive in September for the fall session or in January for the winter session. Value: $7,500 CAD for graduate students for a period of 4 months; $10,000 CAD for graduate students for a period of 5-6 months
Canada-Chile Leadership Exchange Scholarship The goal of the scholarship is to support the development of human capital and a next generation of Leaders in the Americas while strengthening the linkages between Canadian post-secondary institutions and the ones in Chile. Eligibility: Candidates must be citizens of Chile. Anyone who has obtained Canadian citizenship, who has applied or is planning to apply for permanent residency in Canada is not eligible for this scholarship * Candidates must be enrolled full-time at a foreign institution in an eligible country and paying tuition fees at their home institution for the full duration of the exchange * Candidates already participatin in an exchange program in Canada are not eligible * Candidates already enrolled to a degree program at a Canadian university or college are not eligible * Candidates should be proficient in either English or French. Graduate students must arrive between August 2011 and March 1, 2012. Value: $7,500 CAD for graduate students for a period of 4 months; $10,000 CAD for graduate students for a period of 5-6 months
Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship Program The goal of the CCSP is to promote Canadian value and identity around the world and to help meet the human capital needs of developing countries. Eligibility: * Candidates must be citizens of Bangladesh, India, Kiribati, Malaysia, Maldives, Nauru, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Botswana, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mautitius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Ugange Zambia. Anyone who has obtained Canadian citizenship, who has applied or is planning to apply for permanent residency in Canada is not eligible for this scholarship * Candidates must be enrolled full-time at a foreign institution in an eligible country and paying tuition fees at their home institution for the full duration of the exchange * Candidates already participating in an exchange program in Canada are not eligible * Candidates already enrolled to a degree program at a Canadian university of college are not eligible * Candidates should be proficent in either English or French Value: $7,500 CAD for graduate student for a period of 4 months; $10,000 CAD for graduate students for a period 5-6 months
Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) The goal of the ELAP is to support the development of human capital and a next generation of Leaders in the Americas while strengthening the linkages between Canadian post-secondary institutions and the ones in Latin America and the Caribbean. Eligibility: * Canadidates must be citizens of Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks & Caicos.
