Eligibility From the bequest of Lyla May Guest Hugill, The fund is to be divided evenly between the departments of English and Classics. Funds will be disbursed annually.
In Classics, the award is to be offered to:
  • an outstanding student at the graduate or pre-Master of Arts level beginning full-time study towards the Master of Arts in Classics; or,
  • an outstanding student or students at the undergraduate level declaring a major in either Greek or Latin; or,
  • an outstanding student or students at the undergraduate level declaring a minor in either Greek or Latin.

  • Each year the Department will decide if any student or students qualify under category (1) above; if not, students under category (2) will be considered and then under category (3). In categories (2) and (3) the award would take the form of a tuition scholarship (or scholarships).
