Eligibility The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 offers major awards to scientists and engineers for research, development and design. Its aims are to support educatino for the benefit of productive industry. Research Fellowships in Science and Engineering are open to candidates in any of the physical or biological sciences, in mathematics, in applied science, or in any branch of engineering. Candidates in science subjects must be in possession of a PhD degree or in the final stages of thie PhD studies. Candidates offering engineering and not in possession of a PhD must provde evidence of experience equivalent to PhD level. Value: £30,000 for the first year, and £31,500 for the second and third years Deadline. Industrial Design Studentships About eight Studentships are offered each year for outstanding potential designers with a good first degree in engineering or science who wish to develop their capabilities in industrial design and who aspire to becoming leading designers in industry. Research Fellowship in the Built Environment awards have been made for research into ‘Landscape and Modernity’, Urban Issues, Human Habitation’, ‘Transport and the Built Environment’, ‘Housing for the 21st Century’, and ‘Climate Change – The Future for Building Design.’ Applications details will be posted on this website http://www.royalcommission1851.org.uk/built.html
