About John Dueck
Dr. John Dueck received his undergraduate degree in agriculture (B.S.A.) from the Faculty of Agriculture (now the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences) at the University of Manitoba in 1964. After completing an M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Dueck began a distinguished career in agriculture in Canada and abroad. Upon his passing in 2007, his family established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba to provide scholarships for students wishing to pursue graduate degrees in preparation for the many exciting careers that exist in agriculture.
The family of John Dueck has established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba, in his memory, to offer scholarships to encourage students to pursue graduate studies in preparation for a variety of careers in agriculture. The scholarships will be offered to students who:
are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in either an M.Sc. or a Ph.D. program delivered by the Department of Entomology, Plant Science, or Soil Science;
have achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0 (or equivalent) based on the last 60 credit hours of study;
have proposed to conduct thesis research related to crops, pests, or soils;
have demonstrated a high level of research potential.

Application Details |
Candidates will be required to submit an application that will consist of: (a) a description of their proposed research project (maximum 500 words), (b) a curriculum vitae and a brief description of their career goals (maximum 250 words), (c) a current academic transcript(s), and (d) two academic letters of reference from professors, other than the proposed research supervisor, at a post-secondary institution.
Recipients may hold the John Dueck Entrance Scholarship concurrently with any other awards consistent with policies in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The Scholarship is not renewable. Contact the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. |
