Eligibility The Government of Korea through the National Institute for International Education Development* (NIIED) offers scholarships for study and/or research at the Masterís and PhD level. Visit: http://www.studyinkorea.go.kr/ These scholarships are based on reciprocal agreements between the governments of Korea and Canada. Description The National Institute for International Education Development* offers up to two scholarships for study at the Masterís or PhD level in Korean studies, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, and other subjects. The scholarship includes: a round-trip, economy-class airfare ticket to and from Korea; tuition fee exemption (candidates who do not meet the minimum acceptable grades during their studies will not be exempt and must pay their own tuition fees); if applicable, language training expenses (up to one year paid directly to the host institution by the NIIED); a monthly living allowance of 900,000 won1; a settlement allowance of 200,000 won1 upon arrival; a research fund (paid two times per year) of 210,000 won1 per term for humanities and 240,000 won1 per term for natural sciences (e.g. for books, student association fees, dissertation review charges and other requirements); a dissertation printing fee of up to 500,000 won1; medical insurance for the scholarship recipient only; and a repatriation fund of 100,000 won1 upon completion of studies. Scholarships are awarded for: up to two years at the Master's level (language training of 12 months or less may be granted if necessary); or up to three years at the doctoral level (language training of 12 months or less may be granted if necessary).
