Eligibility The Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba offers to top-up the value of graduate scholarships and fellowships awarded through select Tri-Council funding programs. The University of Manitoba Tri-Council Award is subject to the availability of funds from the Faculty of Graduate Studies. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will offer top-up awards in the amount to be determined by the Faculty of Graduate Studies each year.

The University of Manitoba Tri-Council Top-Up Award will be offered to graduate students who:


(1) are new recipients of a Tri-Council award offered through one of the following programs: CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarships Master's Awards, CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Awards, NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships, NSERC Canada Graduate Student Scholarships, SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarships, SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships;


(2) are starting their Tri-Council award in May, September, or January of the academic session for which the University of Manitoba Tri-Council Top-Up Award is tenable.

Recipients of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship and the Manitoba Health Research Council Grants and Awards are not eligible for the University of Manitoba Tri-Council Top-Up Award.

The UM Tri-Council Top Up Award will be administered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Graduate Studies will determine recipients based on Tri-Council Award announcements (released in Spring of each respective year) and assess eligibility. The Top Up will be offered at the time when Tri-Council funding is processed.
