| Eligibility |
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies will fund the second year of a Master's student who held a Tri-Council CGRS-M award in the first year of their Master's program. The award will be valued at the same rate as the UMGF master's award, effective for the 2026-2027 academic year. This award program is subject to the availability of funds from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
The University of Manitoba Tri-Council Master's Supplement Award will be offered to graduate students who:
(1) were new recipients of a Tri-Council CGRS-M award offered through one of the following programs: CIHR Canada Graduate Research Scholarships Master's, NSERC Canada Graduate Research Scholarships Master's, and SSHRC Canada Graduate Research Scholarships Master's Programs; and
(2) have not received funding equal to or greater than the value of this award in the second year of their Master's program.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who transfer from a master's to a doctoral program are not be eligible for the TMSA. |

Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
No application is required; if eligible, recipients are first notified on their original Tri-Agency CGRS-M offer letter sent by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Awards Office. Recipients will also receive an official TMSA offer letter in April/May of each year which will include instructions on how to activate their TMSA award.
