The family and friends of Jennifer Shay, O.C., Ph.D., Prof. Emerita, established an endowment fund at
the University of Manitoba in 1993 to honour this outstanding faculty member who died in 2018. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative made a contribution to
this fund.
The
purpose of the fund is to stimulate graduate field studies in Botany and Ecology in the Faculty of Science
at the University of Manitoba.
Each year, the available annual income from the fund will be used to offer one or more scholarships to
graduate students who:
(1) are enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a Masters or Ph.D. program offered
through the Department of Biological Sciences;
(2) have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours (or
equivalent) of study; and
(3) have demonstrated exemplary research in the area of field Botany or field Ecology;
In order to demonstrate how they meet criterion (3), candidates will be required to complete a Department
of Biological Sciences graduate scholarship application form.
