Edward Benson Kernaghan (B.Sc. Electrical Engineering '26) established a trust fund at the University of Manitoba in 1951. The purpose of the fund is to reward the academic achievements of students who graduate from the Price Faculty of Engineering and who go on to undertake a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Each year, the available income from the fund will be used to offer one or more scholarships to graduate students who:
(1) are enrolled part-time or full-time in both the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 terms in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in the first or second year of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program;
(2) have graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in any Engineering discipline from the Price Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba prior to beginning their MBA;
(3) have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study; and
(4) have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and the ability to excel in the MBA program.
The selection committee has the discretion to determine the number and value of awards offered each year based on the available funds, as outlined in the criteria above.
In the event that there are no candidates who meet the criteria for this award, the available annual income from the fund may be offered as a scholarship to the previous year's recipient(s), provided they continue to be enrolled in their MBA program.
The Dean of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (or designate) will name the selection committee for this award.
