Marjorie Eckman has established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba in honour of her
husband Philip Eckman (B.Sc./38). Philip graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the
University of Manitoba in 1938. In 1940, he returned to the University to complete a ‘pre-Master’s’ year
in geology. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships for Engineering graduate students.
The available annual interest from the fund will be used to offer one scholarship to a graduate student who:
is a Canadian citizen
is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in a Masters or Doctoral program delivered
by one of the following departments in the Faculty of Engineering: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering
has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.5 (or equivalent) based on the last 60
credit hours of study (or equivalent);
has demonstrated exceptional research ability, as determined by the selection committee.
The selection committee will provide the donor with a copy of the recipient's research proposal. |
